Default Potentiometer guard for the R 1200 GS (with video!)

With so many different guards available from so many different brands, it can be difficult to figure out what you really need and where to buy it. One of the products we manufacture, the AltRider Potentiometer Guard for the BMW R 1200 GS, seems pretty straightforward at first glance. But as this video demonstrates, it’s an important piece of protection. Our potentiometer guard also offers something unique: a third mounting point, which keeps it securely attached instead of creating leverage if snagged (as it would if there were only the two mounting points at the top).

I have the Wunderlich model fitted to my bike. I find that my left shin rubs on it when riding. I didn't initially notice it but saw that the left leg of my pants was beginning to be abraded on the shin.

I've therefore cut a couple of strips of rubber and superglued them on the top rear corner of the TPS guard. I think that the usual design of these parts, where there is an open seam between the vertical rear face and the folded top exacerbates the problem.

It'd be nice to see an accessory manufacturer take account of this in their design for a TPS sensor guard.

I have this device mounted on my GS 2009

It's a great piece of gear (love it in black) but I also sometimes feel it on my shin. I have leathers so it doesn't annoy me but I would wonder how it would be if you weren't wearing cow.

All in all it doesn't bother me that much but is something that is worth considering.
