Default Fastways Versus Roc Stomper Footpegs

I was recently asked to compare a set of Andrew's new foot pegs, the Roc Stompers, to my most loved Fastway Pegs. So, here it is:

First the Fastways. I have had them on my bike for the whole time I have owned it, 33K miles, and have always loved them for their wide comfortable footprint, and non-skid Allen pegs. Great design, slim and strong.

Then Andrew sent me these, the Roc Stomper pegs he now sells.

They come in multiple colors, and are slightly more than the Fastways at $149 for the regular pegs, and $199 for the 22 pin long pegs. Click here.

I received the 3/4" longer set with 22 pins instead of 20. The grip pins are fastened from underneath, and are similar to the Fastway pegs.

Nicely packaged!

Fantastic workmanship!

I'll let you see for yourself, then give you my opinion.

As you can see by the comparison, the Fastway pegs are far superior to the stockers. The Roc Stompers are just as nice, and in this case, wider than both. (The regular set should be about the same width as the Fastways. This becomes important to me.)

The fit and finish of the Roc Stompers is absolutely first rate. They look great, and appear to be incredibly durable.

I rode for the last 1000 miles with them, and find them every bit as comfortable as the Fastways, and even a little better. They would be particularly good for wider and larger feet, if you have the large set like I have, and there is certainly no worries about grip. They have it in spades. They also need no special adjustment like the Fastways to keep them level. They bolt right up level with a simple slip of the pin through the bushed mounts.

For the money, this product is worth every dime, and a great alternative to the Fastway pegs, especially if you have larger feet, like long distance comfort, and like to stand a lot off road and on.

I would have no problem recommending them to anyone.

The only drawbacks I can see to these pegs is that they are not height adjustable. They are about the same as the Fastways on the higher position, which is about 3/4" lower than stock, and the spring that came with it seems to have not been made for the 12GS, though it works perfectly well.

One last note: If you are a shorter rider I would suggest you get the standard, narrower, footpegs. The wide ones I tested cause me to have to spread my legs a bit, effectively limiting my ability to maximize my foot purchase on the ground. I went from nearly flatfooting it, to the balls of my feet.

Jim

PS While I do not have any financial stake in the sale of these pegs, or AdvWorkshop, Andrew does sell my DVD's. He asked for an honest assessment, and I am giving it to you.

I just ordered a set of Fastways. I have them on my KTM and really like the height adjustment option. In the low position, they accommodate my 36" inseam rather nicely. No complaints.
