I was riding a 1000 VStrom when a guy in front of me (we made eye contact) turned left. I stomped on the brakes and was almost stopped when we collided. I was okay but the motorcycle was totaled. The guy who hit me took off. Luckily, a Harley rider was right behind me and went after the guy and got his license plate. It turned out the guy had no license, no insurance and was joy riding in his mother's car with a friend. He got probation and community service. My uninsured motorist insurance paid for my motorcycle but the wife didn't want me to ride anymore.
This was a classic accident out of a safety course I took. I was distracted because I was worrying about my wife being on her motorcycle the first time. (I had lost her at a yellow light). The Harley rider also said he saw the guy speeding up; trying to beat me at the light. Well, I am going through a divorce, so the first thing I am thinking about is getting back riding. Woo hoo!

1. Glad you're okay.
2. Good luck with divorce - sorry you're going through that - not fun. 3. Sorry about your DL, nice bike (I had a DL650, also killed by a left-turner). 4. Report back when you're in the saddle again. |

I got a 2011 1200GS and could not be happier. I ride every weekend with friends and also joined the beemer club.
My ex-wife got $2400 a month, which includes $12 hr babysitting to the grandparents while she is at work. If I hadn't lucked into some money I would have had to sell the GS. + GS =
