Does anyone have any feedback on the BMW GS boots or the Sidi Adventure Rain boots? Looking for a pair of boots that will protect my feet offroad, keep me dry and be somewhat confortable when walking... Thanks
PS the gs is a great offroad bike! |

Hi ride-on, I have the solution for you hopefully. try to find a pair of these:
Brand is Columbia and the model is Titanium.. they are made in China so I imagine they will be available to you wherever you live.. They are lace up and cover your ankle and you lower shin, they are waterproof, breathable and very very comfortable. You can wear them riding and they won't rip off your feet in case you end up surfing your bike down a track or on the road. I bought a pair two years ago and wear them almost every day. They are well made and I ride my GS in the rain with them, use them off road and always come home with dry socks. In the pouring rain I wear wet weather plastics which cover the boot enough to keep ALL of me dry as a bone. I have scraped the toe on the road many times on the GS and they still are ok. If you want extra shin protection you should have shin/knee protectors anyway. When you decide to get off your bike and go for an explore on foot I am sure you will know then that you have purcased the right boot for your needs. My short and long alpinestars have been sitting in the cupboard ever since I bought the Titaniums. Great thing is, is you can get off your bike and go to the pub for a beer without looking like you just got off the space shuttle. No burning legs, no crazy walk, They should really be an option at BMW when you buy your bike. hope this helps a little..

frothin hard,
I'll back you up 100% on that! I have a pair of Scarpa Escape, semi moutainering boots that have a stiff sole and gortex liner. Price is much better than motocycle boots and they are more versatile. These hiking boots have better tread than bike boots and more comfortable. The stiff sole are great for standing up on pegs. When it's realy wet, i use gaiters, they go up to the knees and no water will go in your boots, and helps keep the cold out. I'm like you, I like to be able to get off the bike and go explore on foot.No need to have another pair of shoes. I realise that a motocycle boot will protect you more from a the bike crushing your leg but with the r1200 gs, the engine heads will hit first, and if you have your paniers on, that's even more protection. I enjoy backpacking and hiking also, this way i have extremely good pair of boots that are vesatile for the things I love to do!

Thanks for the info. I read all the replies too late and I ended up with the Sidi boots. I wish I would have seen all the replies before I bought the Sidi's. Anyway, I had a chance to tried them out in all kind of conditions, hot, cold, rainy, highway, and offroad. I am very please with them except for the price and the noise they make when you walk. I am planning to ride the Trans American Trail this summer and I think they are good boots for the trip.
