I'm looking to upgrade my helmet, and am surprised there's not more info here one what everyone's using.
I've got a grey '07 GS, and would like something 'modern-looking' to match. I'm thinking the same grey would be optimum, but if not, matte black would also look decent. I prefer a full-face, flip-up helmet like the Caberg Justissimo line, but would prefer a more accessible brand. Finally, I'm still looking for a bluetooth headset/microphone system that meets my needs, so if I could find a helmet that at least can be modified for such a system, it'd be great. Anyone have any ideas? Does anyone have any experience with the Shoei Multitec? Last edited by Chaos Theory; 02-Jun-2008 at 12:34 PM (732). |

Not a real interesting topic, apparently.
![]() Anyway, I've got the flat-black Nolan N102 "Outlaw" w/N-com on its way, along with all the bluetooth jib jab so that I can have conversations with my Zumo 550. This setup is ridiculously expensive, but seems to be the closest to what I'm looking for. We'll see. |

As I continue to talk to myself in this thread, I'd just like to say that the Nolan N102 w/N-com + Zumo 550 + MotoRAZR2 v9m works just slick together!
Maybe I need to get out more, but it just amazes me that you can make phone calls travelling 80mph on the interstate on a motorcycle... |

Hello Chaos,
I'll bite and join in on your lonely discussion. So can you talk to a passenger with this setup? Can you listen to mp3 files in stereo with this setup? Can you listen to voice promps from the Zumo? I have a Zumo 550 as well. I don't really care to talk on the phone while riding, however it's nice to have that option in an emergency. I use the Etymotic ER•6 Isolator earphones which work great for music and voice promps. http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/er6.aspx But this doesn't help with a passenger intercom. I routed a head phone wire from the Zumo to just under the seat to plug into. What price range are we talking about per helmet for this setup? I was at a local dealer last week and was excited to see a Nolan helmet on display, but they new absolutly nothing about it's N-com capabilities and options. Thanks |

Last Christmas while home in the UK i picked up the GT in white . i've always
liked the "flip up" style and the built in sun visor is agreat idea. My first impressions after maybe 5 or 6 short rides are that the chin bar "touches" my chin and forget quick face shield removal for cleaning. I still like the helmet but as usual in my life, as soon as i buy something there seems to be many other versions popping up. |

Michael,
Yes, the Nolan N102 helmet will allow you to hear music from your Zumo (or any other MP3 system), voice commands from your GPS, AND work as an intercom for your passenger. The MP3 music cuts out when a call comes in, assuming you have a cell phone also hooked in. I say 'hooked in' because you can go either wired or unwired, which uses the Bluetooth system-- which is what I use. Unfortunately, using Bluetooth (not sure about wired), your MP3 music is NOT stereo. You have two speakers inside your helmet near both ears, but it is not stereo quality. Unfortunately, this sort of convenience and technology doesn't come cheap. I ordered everything from Competition Accessories: Nolan N102 w/N-com "Outlaw" modular helmet= $260 Basic Kit for same helmet (self-install speakers/mic)= $95 N-com E-box, Bluetooth= $234 (wired is much cheaper) Grand total= $588 (Ouch!) I like it quite a bit, though. You really should try the helmet on, first, before you drop the cash. I've heard it fits 'round-headed' people the best. I've got the Schuberth C2 and I've just fitted the Autocom setup for intercom, TomTom, MP3 etc. Trouble is, the earpieces wouldn't fit snugly inside the helmet without giving me severe earache pretty quickly. Resolved the problem with good quality in-ear buds and now all is comfy, quiet and smooth. It does take a bit of time to get the whole lot in place before I set off though.
By the way, am I right in thinking that Bluetooth can't give stereo? Take care John
