Default Cee Bailies Headlight guard = bulb burnout ???

Has anyone had any experience with a Cee Bailies headlight guard causing burnout?

I just installed the guard and the bulb burned out the next day. The bulb was from PIAA and had ~5,000 miles in 2 months on it so it could be normal wear but I hope bulbs last longer than that. I am wondering if it causes heat buildup which would burnout the bulb.

Thanks for your insight.

Guess: it was a coincidence. Or partly coincidental, anyway. Perhaps you jiggled the headlight assembly enough when mounting the guard that a weakened filament gave way.

The Piaa lamps are, IMHO, quite overpriced. Especially for our bikes as the H7 bulbs (all brands) don't seem to last very long. I'm getting about 10,000 miles per bulb using the VisionPlus (about $17/bulb). The stock bulb lasts a little longer, but I prefer the slightly more light that the VisionPlus puts on the road. I make it a point to always carry a spare.
