Question Tobinator Install Query

My first post to the forum - this is a great resource for us who are new to the GS1200! Am trying to install the Tobinator on my new 09 GS1200 with the stock windshield and am a bit challenged with the WUNDERLICH instruction sheet....so here are my ?'s that I hope I can get help with:

1. The two SS attachment spindles-one marked L and the other marked R...do they attach with a left/right orientation as you look straight toward the bike from the front to it rear, or is left the orientation as if you were sitting on the bike (why does this matter anyways?)

2. These two spindles, are they to be snugged tightly against the bike's bracket, or are they to be left a bit loose to have movement. Seems when I have snugged them up they do not tighten to the same angle suggesting the tobinator extension arms do not lay vertically in the same plane to attach the W/S to.

3. Any suggestions on the best overall positioning of the stock GS w/s with this Tobinator setup? I am 5'11".

4. Is it best to drill the w/s holes to make them circular? Will this improve on the install?

Appreciate any input here, and any other tips I may be missing on this!

I don't know for sure as I don't have tobinators. Every other thing I've mounted uses R and L from the point of view of you sitting on the bike.

Good luck.

The left and right matters because the spindles have a slight bevel on them to match the curvature of the wind shield, if they are backwards eventually your shield my crack from the pressure at the holes.

Also they don't need to be super tight, just screwed down enough to put pressure on the black bushings. This is how you adjust for the width between the holes on the screen. The bushings are going to dry up and crack anyway from being in the weather, so they will have to be replaced anyway.
