I am considering getting a low Sargent seat for my not yet ridden 2009 GS. I am only 5'7" and I have the OEM low seat, on which I can almost put my feet flat on the ground. Not perfect, but it'll do. But I'm questioning the comfort for long range riding. Anyone has experience with the Sargent low seat? Do they manage to keep the padding plush and comfortable despite it being low? And how is the front width when standing still?
Thanks.

Thanks, friends. I think I may give Sargent a try. The only thing is that I sent them a mail two weeks ago, enquiring about their seats, and they haven't bothered to reply.

I don't have my newly bought bike yet. It's wintering at the dealer's. So, I don't have the manual with me. I suppose the two positions refers to the standard seat which, I think, is adjustable in height. Not the low seat, though, AFAIK. Thanks.

It's the second time I read bout adjusting preload on the FRONT shock. You can do that? I had no idea. Also, I have ESA.

If you have ESA then ESA does all the adjustment for you. I'm not aware of anything you can do other than push the ESA buttons.
Non ESA bikes have a few different settings for pre-load. The earliest bikes had 9 notches to choose from, the latter 4 or 5. Pre-load only, no damping adjustments are available on stock shocks.
