New LED Headlight - ! LAMPF question

So I got my bike all back together, replaced the LED headlight and everything works - but after riding for 5 or 10 minutes, the high beam stops working and I get the ! LAMPF indication. So, to test it, I shut the electrics off, turned them back on - and the high beam worked just fine (10 seconds or so after turning it off).

Went for another quick ride - a few minutes into it - the ! indicator and LAMPF warning comes back on.

Any guesses what's up? All the other lights are working fine. A little puzzled.

I have a sneaking suspicion I know what it is...

When I ordered the headlight, I apparently needed to take the cover off of the old headlight, remove the three screws holding the fan in, and transfer that to the new headlight. I, however, not realizing that the new headlight wouldn't have all the components internally already, I mean, at $1800 you think it would have a fan (thankfully I paid less than that) but... NO. Since I didn't see a reason to keep the old headlight, I get to drop $204 on a fan. For a light. That retails just shy of two thousand dollars. That's ridiculous.
