Default New Windshield

I'm thinking of changing my stock '05 12GS windshield to something a bit taller. I really like the Adv's over the Std GS. I bought the bracket from Cee Bailey but hesitated on their new ADV windshield replacement. The bracket from CB was much cheaper than BMW's and is supposed to accept the ADV's stock windshield. I know the delta in price is only 80 bucks (CB's being cheaper) but I think its worth is. Someone please convince me to get the BMW's ADV windshield. I think it looks a lot smarter and sturdier than Cee Bailey's.

I can't help you on this one. Cee Baileys makes very high quality stuff. I have had two.

On the other hand, the BMW stuff is high quality too.

You might check Cee Baileys web site for a local dealer with test windscreens in place. Morton's BMW in VA is one, and you can borrow a screen to see if it works for you before buying one.

Have you looked at Aeroflow or maybe Ztechnik?? I know that the Aeroflow WORKS well, don't know how well the Ztech does, but it is wider and higher than stock.

I received and installed the Adv. Windshield on my 12GS and I am very pleased. I ordered the bracked from Cee Bailey (much cheaper than BMW) and it was identical to BMW's. The BMW ADV windshield is heavy duty like the GS' orignal - much more than the CB - and it looks much better. Wind just skims off the top of my helmet, works very well in the rain and abslolutely no vibration.

Pricey but worth it.

I too have the CB...put the "ehnanced" (ie. bracketed support) with an 18" XD 18" windshield on. Ride it in the low position. Very pleased!

I can add some experience with the Ztechnik option. I am 6'0 with a 33" inseam and the stock GS shield hit me mid helmet. Although the Z-technik is 2" taller, it felt no different in riding than the stock w/s which does have a lip. I returned the Z-Technik and am now waiting on a Cee Bailey which I ordered 3" taller and 2" wider than stock. I'll post impressions once I get a few miles on it.

Default Windshield question

wit61, have you received your windshield yet? I'm about the same dimensions as you and am looking at the CB shield my self (not enhanced). Opinion please and if anyone has had experience with the Tobinator system I would like to hear. Maybe the two work together? This is the one I was looking at +4 tall and +2 wide with the Tobinator hardware.

Default Adjustable Ztechnic

I have changed to the adjustable Ztechnic and have been very pleased. At 6'2" and 32" inseam, having the adjustment at the mid point on the bike's adjustment points, the air flow now hits just at the top of my helmet. I have also found that less air hits my shoulders than with the stock. I like being able to move the windshield up when traveling and putting it lower when in town or on the back roads.

the Wunderlich part works much better. I was an early purchaser of the Tobinators and found them finicky. They also "parallelogram" because they can rotate at either end. They are also only adjustable in "steps".

The Wunderlich part solves both problems for comparable cost.

I'm looking at both the Tobinator and now the Wunderlich. I can see how the sheer length of the Tobinator bars would allow the windshield to vibrate if they were fully extended.

I'm just unsure if the Wunderlich adjustment bars would leave enough room for full air flow. I received the CB shield and am happy, but still need to know if there is enough adjustment on the Wunderlich system to stop the buffeting.
