I did a search on KonTour Seat and got nothing so I figured I'd ask around.
I'm looking to purchase a 2010 or 2011 GS in the next month and one item up for Mod is the seat. I've done alot of research on Russel, Sargent, Bill Mayer, Rick Mayer and Wunderlich Seats (to name a few). I dont want a seat that looks like it belongs on a plow tractor but I dont want a seat that belongs on a sport bike. On the surface the KonTour Seat seams to be the only one that addresses "monkey butt". I live in Florida and personally I sweat lot, so Money Butt is a concern. Everyone "claims" to have the most comfy seat, so I'll take that with a grain of salt. The first time I did the Houch dual sport ride in Suches Ga. I was bleeding after the first day . But I digress....I dont want a superwide seat because I think it would get in the way of off road riding. I want the most comfortable seat I can get without comprimising function. Does anyone have a KonTour seat, or any reviews of it? Here'sa link.... http://www.kontourseat.com/id3.html |

I've seen mixed reviews, but only regarding use on the luxo-tourers like the K1200LT. Don't recall hearing of any GS users.
Some of us find the stock saddle mostly OK. With a sheepskin pad the seat is fine for my needs. The pad adds a bit of cushioning and allows better air flow. I am not an iron butt kind of rider, though. On trips I'd guess most days will be in the 400 mile range. Once in a while I'll do a 500-600 mile day. For monkey butt look at good underwear. This stuff (LD Comfort) is highly regarded by those who spend long days in the saddle. |

The Contour saddle was an item on the K1200LT.net board some years ago - mixed reviews as with most things and I do not know of anyone using one on a GS.
Touratech has a saddle material employing a similar concept i.e. letting some air flow through the material. I don't know if it works, and I didn't want to spend the money on one after I sat on it - just not to my tastes. Most of the long distance guys I know, including myself, drop the money on a saddle done by one of the Mayer brothers, Russell Day Long, and there are some regional guys who do good work like Rich's Custom Seats in the Seattle area. Your butt does not care what your saddle looks like if it works for 1000 mile or 1500 mile days end on end. It is usually the uninformed who make the disparaging comments. Cheers,
