I'm just wondering about changing the mapping in my GS. When moving at dead slow speeds in traffic queue and the like, my GS really doesn't like it, probably because it's a twin. I'm just wondering whether the tourers like the RT with similar engines have the same issue. If not, perhaps it's due to the engine mapping and if so, I wonder if it would be possible to put the RT mapping on my GS. Or as has been said before, am I taling rubbish?
Anyone elses thoughts and experiences would be useful. |

Get yourself an "accelerator" from mavn in Belgium. They cost around 25 Euros, take five minutes to fit (or remove!) and will smooth out that on/off effect at low speeds. A search under "acceleator" will produce lots of details and user opinion.

What year GS and what is the problem? There is very little info
out there on chip mapping the BMW ECU. The guy in Belgium makes a "defeat device" which modifies the temperature sensor and fools the ECU. Mostly positive comments about the device. Last edited by pdxrmccgs; 07-Feb-2011 at 07:24 AM (558). |

It's a 06 model, main issue is snatching in very low revs, having read the reviews regarding the accelerator, which just appears to be an plug and play lead, this could be the answer I'm looking for.

Be aware (which most people are not) that in the US anyway the use of any defeat device might get a visit from the Feds.

These folks appear to be remapping the OEM ECU -

Schtum...I saw this recent discussion and was very interested as
not much info on the subject at least on this planet. Unfortunately none of the stuff they "talked" about levitated me. ![]() However, not to be a nebob of negatism through the "interceptor" site I did stumble on to the ANSU fuel injector cleaning and testing machine which did levitate me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kX0qFVugxpM Last edited by pdxrmccgs; 07-Feb-2011 at 10:43 AM (696). |

Note that the article in question is talking about the problems of small motorcycle shops and custom cycle builders, not end users. Also, it is arguable that the Accelerator or the Booster plug are defeat devices. They don't defeat or bypass anything. They adjust a value, just like changing the throttle cable adjusters to change your off idle balance. No, I wouldn't want to have to pay for the lawyers to argue that point, though. Today you can buy different versions of a Y pipe to replace your cat from several vendors. That is obviously a defeat device as it replaces a pollution control device. Funny how the EPA has yet to go after the manufactures or the dealers who sell them, mush less the folks that use them. |

Honda 267 million fine. Ford 7.8 million fine. Looks like the EPA rolled them up and stomped on them on some sort of "defeat mechanism" issue. Last edited by pdxrmccgs; 08-Feb-2011 at 08:03 AM (585). |
