Hi, sorry I can't help you but I am also interested - I think www.UKGSer.com will be able to help. I have a 2004 GS that I have only owned for 4 months so lots to learn. Peter

The idle throttle body adjustment is controlled by the engine management system. Stepper motors drive both sides. The two sides can get out of "step" with each other and need to be reset. You need either the dealer's GT-1 computer or a GS-911 device to do that.

Assuming that your steppers are fine idle balance is set by careful adjustments of your valves. Seriously. Adjust your valves then check idle balance by hooking up a twinmax, carbtune, carb stix, whatver. This is best done with the stepper motors parked, but you'll need the GS-911 to do that. If the idle balance is off by too much (about 25 millibar) then you check for air leaks and valve settings. There is no other adjustment.

Off idle balance is done using the cable adjusters. BMW says to check off-idle at about 1400-1800 RPM... just off idle.

Ken, if you post where you live perhaps someone would come over and help. I should add that the gs-911 is wonderful, but you don't need one.
