All - first post, please be gentle...
Loving my newly acquired 04 R1200GS, until the battery gave up after 2 months. Reading through the posts, plumped for an Odyssey PC-535 battery, specially modified by Motorworks UK. Fitted it and realised the positive lead needs to be un-hooked from the body to reach over and across, but it's all now looking snug and safe. Question - how the hell does the seat fit back on? If I raise the back of the seat it does, but that makes for a really uncomfortable postion riding. Am I being stupid? Thanks. |

First and foremost, I'm not an expert. West Coast Battery lists the battery for your bike as a PC 680 and it is slightly larger than your modified 535. (I've got a 535 in my '09 GSA) I'd heard and confirmed at our local BMW dealer today, the 1150 GS has a larger battery and I mentioned your problem. They scratched their heads and said, "It should fit."
Then I recalled acquiring a used machine some years ago and, when I put a new battery in, I couldn't get the strap back on. I pulled the battery and saw four rubber bumpers in the bottom of the tray. The original owner had purchased a slightly smaller than stock battery and used these to make it fit. You might give that a check. Mike |
