1. Did you buy a duff battery? Bung it on an Optimate or similar intelligent charger and see if it recovers.
2 It's likely that your brake problems are down to the flat battery. If the battery voltage drops below a certain level, the electric servos cease to operate. HTH.....and Slàinte!

I thought that initially, but i have another bike with the same battery, and put tit in, and 2-3 days later it was completely flat.
The Servo is working for the front brake, and the front brake is working great, the rear brake is weak and no servo noise. I have A HEX GS911 Diagnostics tool, and ran a full diagnostics. Here are the results. Can you hear the "click" of the brake switch when you depress the brake pedal (engine off, put ear close to pedal)?
How is the fluid level in the rear wheel circuit reservoir? The rear control circuit reservoir? When was the last time the brakes were bled? and how are the rear pads? I don't know if the drained battery is related or not. I suppose it could be an effect if something is really wrong in the ABS unit. The heated grip open circuit is something else I'd look at for a drained battery. Is it open because wires are broken with a power lead shorted to ground? |

Hi Marc
yes i can hear the micro switch on clicking on an off. if it is the same switch for the rear brake light its working as the brake light is comming on and off ok. The reservoir is full to the max mark, and the pads where replaced last year, and i have only done about 2k since the replacement. i will bleed the caliper and see if that makes a difference. The rubber is worn on the grips, so i will order a new set tomorrow, BMW quoted me £50.00 as you just cant buy the rubber grip part. hopefully that may be the issue for the draining battery. Thanks for the advice, ill try each. Cheers Celticbeemer.

You said "the reservoir". That leads to my next question...
Both of them? Also, it's a long shot but you might want to look at this, too: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showp...5&postcount=11 Last edited by marc; 29-Apr-2011 at 09:34 AM (607). Reason: Fix link |

Marc,
Can you repost the link? I cant get it to pull up. Celticbeemer, Have you resolved your issue? What did you do? Did the gs911 clear the fault? I have a similar problem that I am working with no luck so far and looking for all the help I can get. Thanks,

Problems are still here, the battery seems to be holding charge for now. i will bleed the brakes over the weekend, and post to let you know if it sorted the issue.
i will follow the fix in the link supplied by marc (thanks marc) i will update the post asap.

Hello All
I bled the rear brake, but it made no difference, still no servo activating. I spoke with BMW in Belfast N.Ireland, and the tek hinted towards checking the rear ABS Sensor, after that they would need ot check the bike. I have been using the bike to clock up some miles to see if use would sort it out, but after 140miles its still not better. I will clean the Rear ABS Sensor this weekend and report back on the outcome. I have ordered a new set of BMW heated grips, hopefully that may sort the battery draining issue. Cheers Celticbeemer
