Default My modifications!

I always thaught the original top box,32 litres, could have been bigger for when traveling two up,so this is what I did!I used another 45ltr right side case laid on it's side, and built a bracket/box combo underneath so that I could push the box backwards to make it more comfortable for the girlfriend. The box stands just 3/4" higher than the original, but 4"1/2 further back, and was able to have better back rest. The lid now acts has a small table, and it makes it easier for my short girlfriend to access the inside. This setup weighs 8 lbs more than the original top box!
Again to help the the little miss to be more comfy,I made these footrest that I simply bolted to the original passenger footpegs after removing the rubber padding.
Then I've install the Fuzeblock FZ1 underneath the seat in the place of the owner's manual,so that I can wire in the extra outlets and bring power to the right side box for my laptop.

Thanks guys! I'm kind of proud of it!
For the anti skid,I copied the GS pattern off the the tank the old fashion way, with a paper and pencil, and transfered it to the anti skid tape. Will wear off after a while but it's ok,I can make another!

Talking Cases??

What brand of cases are you using and what was the cost??? I just bought a new 2012 R1200GS in Jan and am in a quandry as to what Panniers to buy, I want fairly decent quality at a fair price!!

Captain, they look like OEM Adventure cases.

With respect captain, that's one of those "It depends" questions. Or answers anyway. It depends on what you want to do. Travelling around Australia I used the bog standard vario panniers which were fine for most purposes although one did fall off while riding on a long rutted road up the York Peninsula. (Photo attached) I liked the expandable feature but found that the mechanisms jammed up with sand and grit. They were also not 100% waterproof while upside down in a river!

For my new Triple Black I bought the Touratech-made Zego pro (branded BMW). Here: http://www.touratech.com.au/home/com...244a5ee83d.jpg

So far I have been impressed. Of course they are not expandable but they seem sturdy and the fittings operate well. I also use mesh bags inside them so on long trips they mostly stay on the bike.
