Gauge display

If I had the display set to either of the two trip options displayed
I could turn off the ignition and the next time I turned it on it would still be on that trip, now it always defaults to the odometer. I have no manual so I'm not sure if this is a setting I can adjust..

This appears to be a random event.....my GS has always done that. I recall some comments on Advrider where other owners raised the same issue.
