Hi,
My local bikeshop has fitted a new rear caliper to my 2004 GS. All is running fine now but he could not turn off the "Brake Failure" warning signal on the dash. Is there a trick to fix this or do I need to go to a Dealer? |

I live in a country town, 130 kilometres from a BMW Dealer. My local Suzuki Dealer is good but I always go to a BMW dealer for servicing etc. In this case that was impossible without a bike trailer. The chief mechanic rode the bike home for me and said all tested ok. He said it was a diagnostic problem that he did not have the tool/technology to fix. I think I will book the bike in for attention at my BMW Dealer. Thank you once again for your reply and I believe accurate assessment.

The fault codes have to be reset by the computereither at a BMW dealer, or A GS-911 plugged into the bikes data port under the seat and hooked up to a notebook computer can do this but they are kind of pricey @$350.00 I bought one for a recurring brake fault light on my '08 K1200GT which turned out to be a broken sensor wire coming from the front caliper. I cut the wire soldered it together and eliminated this sensor system which was subsequently dropped on later models because of a lot of problems/Unreliability with it!! it is not difficult to periodically check the brake pads for Wear!!
