Default Shorai Lithium Battery

my dealership had them on display (and smartly so), and being able to pick one up while holding an oem one in your other hand made the purchase decision an easy one. but in hopes of helping others here who might be contemplating its purchase, i'd recommend the "duration" version (higher cranking) ShoraiUsa - LFX18A1-BS12 versus the lesser cranking option which is actually the recommended option for the GS per the website. i initially ordered/received the latter and didn't think the cranking power was sufficient when turning over the motor, the higher cranking one works perfectly. the weight savings is about 7lbs (no, i thankfully don't need to physically lose weight ) which helps offset weight from a tank or tail bag. the battery comes with a foam shim kit that helps you build out the battery box to keep it perfectly in place. the install was easy and didn't take all that much time. no, i have no affiliation with the company.

ShoraiUsa - R1200GS (Adventure)

hope this helps,

edit: mods, i wasn't sure whether this belonged here in Maintenance/Mods or Accessories, please move it as you see fit.

Thanks for the notes. I've read nothing but good stuff (if you ignore the price ) about the battery. It will likely be my next battery if my current battery stops doing its job.

Default Shorai Lithium Battery

I had to do a double-take on the weight of the Shorai battery. If my current Odyssey dies before I do, I'll darn sure try a Shorai. Thanks for the link!

Thumbs up Shorai Battery

FWIW! I installed a LFX 18 battery in my '08 K1200GT a couple of months ago after reading a write up MCN motorcycle consumer news! akong with the weight savings it is supposed to have a longer service life not susceptable to sulfating etc!!! I also purchase their battery charger as well to be sure there were no issues about charging as LI/FE batts are sensitive to charging voltage and current! they do claim that deltran battery tender will suffice ok!!
