Default Another starting issue

My GSA will not start when it is gear with the kickstand up and the clutch pulled in. It will start fine in neutral. I am guessing I have a bad sensor on the kickstand that is indicating it is still down. I have even put the stand down and back up several times with no luck.

Suggestions?

I understand that there are also sensors monitoring the gears and the clutch. If so, it could be either of those?

Exclamation Little switch on the clutch leaver

I had an identical issue with an 05 model.
Funny enough it was fine when it went in for a major service, but on the way home i stalled at some lights, and i could not re start the bike untill i had it in neautral.
Back to the dealer and after a bit of a row, it turned out that the little switch that is attached to the clutch lever had somehow failed. They swaped the switch out, and all is well.
Three seperate road tests and the dealer did not notice any problems, and this is the Australian BMW dealer of the year.
Not sure what the switch costs, i made them change it at their cost.

Default Thanks for the replys.

My problem has also been intermittent. I think Murphy also had a law relating motorcycle problems. My R1200RT had a similar issue but if I rocked the bike back and fourth a little it would then start. Not he case with the GSA. I guess I will have to bite the bullet and have the dealer replace the switch. Electronics can be frustrating.

If it were the side stand switch the bike would die as soon as you put it in gear. It is your clutch switch. With the engine off put your ear close to the clutch lever and slowly bring the lever back to the bar. Here the "click"?

If no your switch is bad or dirty and will need to be replaced of fixed. If you did hear the click notice where the lever was when the switch activated. If the switch doesn't activate until the lever is pulled almost all the way to the grip you will likely have starting issues. I had to adjust mine for just that reason.
