Hi, I have a 07/2007 GS with 11000 miles with IABS gen II, the brake failure came on. The local rep has informed me that the I need to replace the ABS unit for a cost €1950. I am thinking of removing the ABS and down grade to normal braking system (non ABS). I know I have to replace the brake lines but also to rewire the system, and I have no idea what to do. Has anyone done this before and what wiring has to been changed? I know this was been done on pre 07 bike successfully.

The brakes should still work as non-abs brakes without having to do any mods. That is their fail-safe mode for when the ABS is not working. The only problem you would have is the brake failure light on, but that might be controlled through the ABS fuse, or can you still select the ABS off with the ABS switch?

You have done the basic checks that you can do, i.e., the clearance on the wheel sensors and a good visual of the wiring near the wheels and anywhere where it pivots at for breaks in the wiring?
