Default Error message on consol for lights up front..

I recently had gotten my 2005 GS and during the buying process, they had said the high beam light was out which was the cause for the pic of a light on the display consol. They replaced the high beam light but now still had the same message. I picked it up today after having some work done on it (output shaft seal and boot) and they hooked it up to the computer, got no error messages and cleared it. when the mechanic started it, it was not on but then came back when I started it up. They rehooked it up to the computer and had no faults. On the computer though it was saying something about the accessory lights which the bike does not have. They called BMW who said the previous owner may have had some accessory lights on it but then removed them. The bike runs fine and the turn signals/headlights work fine. Any thoughts on how to get rid of the message on the consol?

First thing, check all the lights on the front including the parking light. It is easy to overlook.

Default Yep!

That was it. Replaced the bulb and the consol pic went bye bye. Thanks for pointing it out. Couldn't get the parking light on though but honestly, is that something that comes in that handy? Other when you don't have a flashlight handy...

Thanks again

Todd

It is for parking...it is a parking light. There was at one time a position on the iginition switch for parking with the front parking light and the tail light on, so that you can park on the side of the street at night and have the parking lights on...it's a European thing. My '99 K1200RS has that function and my Audi Quattro does also, it works for either side of the street on it...if you park on the right side of the street after you turn off the key you put the left turn signal on and the parking lights on the left side of the car come on, if you park on the other side of the street you do just the opposite.
