Default 6000m service

How much should I pay if I get it done? and could I do it myself or would it void my warranty? Thanks.

The "void your warranty" thing depends upon where you live. In the US the answer is generally no. Document the work done, use parts and supplies that meet spec, and keep your receipts.

How much it will cost also depends upon where you live. Labor rates vary quite a bit from location to location (even within the US). Figure about 3 hours labor plus parts. Here in the SF Bay area the cost would be about $350-$400.

You'll get a better answer by calling your dealer and asking.

Edit: I see that you are in the SF Bay Area, too. Dealer cost will be about what I quoted (it was $340 6 years ago and labor costs haven't gone down). An independent shop might cost less.

Default Maintenance and Modifications > 6000m service

In early September, a friend who's a good wrench-spinner, supervised me during a 12,000 mile service. I purchased all of the necessary stuff from my local dealer and called them a couple of times for assistance. Afterward, I took the
'09 GSA to the dealership for a computer "check-up." When I got a receipt for the $50 charge, it stated 12,000 mile service. The tech said to keep that for my records.

Since I still have a year left on the warranty, I took it back to the dealership for the 6,000 mile service last week. They charged me $348.

In June 2010 I paid Diablo BMW in Walnut Creek $150 to do my 600 mile service. The mechanic let me watch and spent two hours going over the bike with me. To me it was money well spent. And I've done all the services since then myself. Just did the 72k yesterday.
