Default Hard to shift sometimes

I have a 2011 1200GS with 5000m. Last time out, I noticed upshifting put a lot more pressure on my boot than usual. Could this be the sign of a problem?

5000 miles? You are almost due for for your 6k service and you are still under warranty. I'd just take it in a little early for the 6k service and let the dealer check it out. If there is a transmission or clutch problem it will get fixed under warranty.

If you were planning on doing the 6k service yourself then just take it to the dealer for the shifting issue.

It will cost you some of your time to work with the dealer, but I'd rather do that then worry about something that may get worse. It would be worth the peace of mind to me.

Oh, and there are several reasons it could be harder to shift, but we'd need more info to even start to suggest which problem it could be. Is it in all gears? You said upshifting, so down shifting is completely fine? Is it same no matter how fast you are accelerating? Are you sure the clutch is totally disengaging when you are shifting? A while back I change my clutch hand from using four fingers on the lever to using two. I had to adjust the lever position so that I had more clearance between the lever and the handgrip because my two fingers that were on the grip would keep the lever from traveling enough to totally disengage the clutch. That made the shifting harder. Have you recently adjusted the lever? Or is it hitting the handguard and restricting the movement?
