Thumbs down Fuel Controller 2009 model onwards

Hi all, my bike let me down yet again. This time I'm pretty sure its the fuel controller. I have a bypass lead and plan on testing further tonight.
Can anyone tell me if they are repairable so I could keep it as a spare?
Is it always water that gets in and causes them to fail?
Has there ever been a re-call on 2009 models for this problem?
My bike has done 100,000K's so is out of waranty.
Seems very odd that they put this electronic shit in a place that easily fills up with water...why wouldn't they use a relay like every other manufacturer?

BTW: I'm well and truly over these over rated German lumps of shit that keep letting others and myself down. Very ordinary bike indeed.

Cheers

Aussie Ken

Some controllers had bad O-rings that let water in. Others died due to heat. Mine has been fine wet and dry since '05 with over 100K Km on the bike.

If it is the controller pull the connectors off the old one to build a plug in bypass cable that replaces the controller. Haven't heard of anyone repairing a unit, but I stopped paying attention to that kind of thing a long time ago.

Thumbs down Just did some tests

Thanks for the replies.

I just did some tests after work. I by-passed the controller unit with the cable I purchased from BurnsMoto - Motorycle Powerlet Dealer - USB power sockets, cables, batteries, heated clothing and electronics and the bike idles fine. However, when I rev it, it dies. So may-be more than the controller. Any ideas?

All was clean and dry under the controller unit, in the 'well'.

Cheers

Ken
