Hi all. Thanks for the tips. In the end the laminar lip solved it for me. Still a little buffeting at the top of my helmet but something I can live with. Finally I can really enjoy my new bike. 200km to go for first 1000km service.

The Wunderlich Vario screen worked best for me.

Default Cee Baileys

Thought I would add another 2 cents to the post as I ride a 2006 1200 GS, am 6 ft 4in tall and weigh 230 pounds. My original windshields would beat me up on any ride 65 mph or higher. I am on my 3rd windshield and have found the fit for me.

1st shield was the original one with terrific buffeting from everything, all the time. 2nd was an 18 inch Cee Baileys that helped a little but problem still existed and passing trucks coming or going was a nightmare. 3rd was the Cee Baileys 22 inch (tallest they make) GS Adventure windshield and life is now good. In fact, it is great. Buffeting all but gone except in a combination of high winds and behind large truck. But, even that is much, much less than before and not a problem, just something you notice. Before it could border on what I thought was a safety issue the way the bike was bouncing around in the wind.

The screen is tilted so I see over the top and clearly see the road 30 feet in front of me. Wind flow seems to just hit the top of my helmet but I have no head buffeting. The shape of the windshield does create a little air flow around my body, all the time so not getting hot when going slow as with the old Gold Wing. Hope this helps someone else work through this issue. Also, I have all the old screens.

Hey, Uncle Bucks. Did you get the "Dome" or "Euro"?

I am 5'9" and have the Adventure screen fitted to my GS.
The wind cuts just over my helmet, so if you are 4" taller it is just catching you.

Have you got a perspex headlight protector fitted?
I found on the standard screen that it interferes with the wind that must go UNDER the screen lip above the heaglight cluster to equalize pressure behind the screen. Removing it made the buffeting go away.

Try fitting and aftermarket mini deflector to the top of the Adv. screen.
I'm not familiar with the screens available in the US.

I added a Touratech add on screen extender on top. It clamps on and comes off easily. Not cheap, but it cured the buffeting at highway speeds.

I am 6'1" - and hated the buffeting on my GSA. Put in Laminar Lip - problem is gone. Easy to instal, inexpensive - couldn't be happier.

Default One Option

After months of trying everything I could think of, I went for a Givi AF 330 Screen.

It has a variable top half & splits the Airflow.........

It's Fantastic, so much so that I took it off my 2005 & put it on to my new 2012 Rallye.

I found that many other solutions cured only part of the problem.

My motorcycle farkle supplier - in his usual marketing brilliance - has a Touratech spoiler wind deflector that he loans to guys who come into his shop.

They go out for a short ride with it fitted and return to get their own fitted. He has about an 80% sale rate. I thought it must be a good product - so I loaned his...

Now SWAMBO wants to know why I need it? It's on my Christmas list.
In our family I buy my own presents and the giver just pays into the credit card account.

Hi Maximus,

Just thought I would comment in this issue as I have had similar symptoms but only on motorways at high speed.

I am 5'6" and 72kgs and have a 2012 triple black with the GSA screen fitted. I have to have the screen in its highest position to get rid of the buffeting as it just about goes over my head. At 100mph on the motorway I get a bit of noise but due to the superb BMW series 6 helmet and blue tooth its fine. Funny though because if I lower my head about an inch no noise at all. May look into the touro tech top spoiler for the future though...
