Cool Zumo 450 w/ XM Seperate

Just completed a small project on my GS I thought I'd share with the masses.

Challenge: Add XM radio to the ride.

To be quite honest I don't really need XM, but since the SEC Football will be carried on XM starting this fall, I thought I'd add XM so that I can listen to the games when my team is not on TV.

I looked at several setups and decided to go with the basic (Roady XT) receiver and as clean a setup is I could make. I elected to add the XM to the Ram Mount stalk on the Zumo.

More pics can be found at:
http://picasaweb.google.com/decooper/XMZUMO

Zumo 450 mounted on a RAM-LONGARM (5 1/4 inch stalk) at the top of a RAM-HB2 secured with the RAM lock (RAM-BA). The ROADY XT is mounted to the front facing ball with a bracket that you have to have :RAM-SRBRK . I elected to mount the antenna to a bracket (XF-FP) behind the Zumo to put the antenna in plain view of the sky. I ordered a 12 inch magnetic antenna so that I didn't have to hide as much wire. ( http://www.myradiostore.com/antennas...y-antenna.html )

The Zumo is hard wired and the XM (is currently) is powered through a cig adtr inside my tank bag. I brought the Zumo's and XM's audio output into my tank bag through a powerlet access where the two audio sources are mixed before they plug into my chatterbox 'audio in'.

Now the rest of the story . . . after meticulously running power from my CENTEC to the XM mount I discovered I ordered a 6V power source and my ROADY XT uses 5V . . . my response upon the discovery was something to the effect of "you've got to be s&**_ng me!" Thats the reason the XM is currently on cig adtr power. Not sure I'll be able to get the 5V cable run as clean . . . . but in due time I'll find out.

For what its worth, I'll also be adding a McCruise cruise control to the same side as those mounts! The control head for the McCruise mounts to the mirror stalk and it appears it will fit nicely. Lets just don't hope I don't have a BIG spill on the left side and take out ALL 3 of those farkles huh!

Hope this info helps. (Same Post as I placed on GSPOT/Equipment page)
