OK so I just purchased a new demo 2008 gs. I have been struggling with cases. Today I began looking at the Pelican cases as they meet mil spec and are guaranteed for life. They say they are crush proof and are temp rated to 240 degrees. They are significantly less money than bike specific cases as well.
My question is as follows. Why arent I seeing more of them on bikes? By the way I am new to the forum so hello to everyone. ![]()

Welcome,
The pelican cases are popular with some who want to carry camera or computer gear. I used to have a very small case mounted to hold my SLR. ![]() The problem with the Pelican case (in my opinion) is the ratio of internal space to external space. The thickness of the case plus the various ribs, etc., make the inside too small for a given external volume. That and I prefer not to use top cases in general. Some use the Pelican cases as panniers, too. See http://cariboucases.com/ // marc |
