Tankbag suggestions

I'm new to the R12....just bought yesterday. I've been riding my GSPD for like ten years and this R12 is unbelievable! Love it. Anyway, this baby's bone stock, so i'm beginning to think about accessories. The bike actually has the remainder of what appears to be the rear mounting point for a BMW bag still on there.
What are some tankbag suggestions you guys have? I have a Wolfman Explorer that I used on the GSPD and I assume it will work fine on the R12, but I havent fit it yet. The BMW bag looks nice, seems to fit tidy. Then there's the Touratech which to me seems really overpriced and I suppose lots more. It looks like, at least in the photos i've seen, that the BMW bag has no pockets. Not too crazy about that. I use the pockets on my Wolfman all the time.

Let me know what your experiences have been.
Also, 12V power in the bag isnt that important to me. I dont use lots of gadgets on my bikes. Maybe it would be nice to have for cell phone charger, whatever.

Well thats funny.....as soon as I posted this, the very next post is the same exact thing from pdevos!!! I'll just keep up with his thread

I went round & round with tank bags before settling on one from BMW. I got their smaller GS bag, wired it up so I could charge the phone and power my J&M Integratr IV, iPod and radar detector. It fits the coutour of the tank, doesn't slide around or blow the horn.

There's lots of bags out there, perhaps one that is perfect for your needs. I'm partial to one of the Touratech bags:



but they are anything but cheap!

Nice looking GS! Looks like you found a good deal!
I use the large BMW tank bag. Found it kind of big at first, but realized after how practical it was. It does not interfere with your riding at all. Watreproof and spacious, i can put everything i need for a long day trip on my own, even an overnight stay. I'm from the Canadian eastcoast wich our weather changes constantly, so you have to be ready for anything. Wet, warm, cold ...etc. The bag makes it easy to be ready for it all. There's alot of nice bags out there, makes it hard to choose. Good luck!

I took your advise Marc and my Touratech one should be here this week. Also taken your packing advise and have sorted out the bike for my trip.
I just need to throw cost to the wind and say yes to the TT Zega panniers and ditch my BMW ones. They are a pain to pack!

I was able to sell my stock Vario bags and recoup some of the money spent on the Zega Panniers. The Zegas were still expensive. But worth it.

I am also looking for a small tank bag for my 09 GS. I also have Rox Riser with my bars coming back a bit. Anyone have issues or use a small(er) tank bag with the bar backs?
