Has anyone installed a CB radio or any other communication device? I am told that you must do the electrical hook up into the can-bus system. As I understand, if you bypass the can-bus and use a relay to the battery, there is a lot of electrical interference, alternator or ignition noise. This will possibly cause a communication device to work poorly or even be unuseable. I also have a Zumo 550 that I will eventually want to add onto the bike. Some of these communication devices also have XM or other radio features, and again this can be a problem.
Bike is a 2008 R1200GS. Please let me know. Dave |

The CB will connect to the battery for power. You will likely need power line filtering of one form or another to get ride of common mode ignition noise. You might also need some antenna filters (I'd probably use a band pass filter). Anyone with experience in hooking up radios to bikes will know what to do. |
