Default Which GPS

I'm brand new here and I'm certain this topic has been covered many times. I apologize. I'm looking for the right GPS to buy for the 1200Adventure that I take possession of in a few weeks.
Thanks

Depends. If you plan on using the device after you arrive as a handheld, I highly recommend the Garmin 60CSx. If you have no intention of removing it from the bike other than for security and want a larger display, I'd say the Garmin 2700 or 2800 series with the new Zumo series a close second only because of price.

After testing several options : Garmin 276C.

Far away the most complete and usable device. Can be a street navigator and a GPS plotter for Off road trips.

I have a Touratech support for the GS.

how do u use your gps???

if u wanna go on the road and u need only an help when u are driving sure you can prefer a zumo series

if u wanna navigate (off road trails ect) u had to buy a 60, 76 or 276 series

a 60 or 76 is good in the rucksack too, if u like hiking

Garmin 276C -- it has the best screen, it's plenty fast, 100% waterproof, and with a 256mb card will hold data for a very long ride. Also, they have come way down in price now that the model is 4-5 years old.

Can't a 2700 or 2800 series be used off the road?

It has no internal battery and is in-vehicle (or on) use only.

Default Zumo

Just Unboxed the zumo 550.
looks great it is extremely simply and works great.

the only drawback I see is the extra cost of an XM antenna
That and of course it was delivered the day the snow returned.

I chose the Zumo mainly because it comes with all the software ready to go.
Also living in the north I need all my toys to work in the car and on the bike.
Zumo comes with both mounts ect
I saw other models that would need accesories or software to get going.

I liked the MP3 capability and the standard memory.
Hopefully Im done and wont need many accesories.

From what I wanted to do they all looked like 600.00 to 1200.00 to get going.
Zumo fell In between and under my tax return.

It is a complete unit ready to go
I pulled it out of the box , grabbed the car mount and 12 V and was going within 5 minutes. Its that easy.

Has a battery and can go off road

Ill update once I get 500 Miles or so on it.

I guess it depends on what is meant by "off road". It is fine, as you say on the bike, on roads or not, but cannot be carried around without a seperate battery pack. I have one, and these units are just too large to comfortably carry around. The battery pack is nice for in-tent planning though.
