Default Seat - How low can you go?

I recently acquired an 07 GS that has the stock seat. Being vertically challenged (30" inseam) I am interested in getting as close to the ground as I can, at least until I get a good feel for the bike. So...at this point I want "low" more than I want "comfortable." Any recommendations for the lowest available seat?

Thanks.

I, too, have a 30" inseam. I just traded my standard seat to the owner of an '07 with a BMW low seat. I can now flat foot it at stoplights. I would find someone near you with a low seat that might let you try it for size. It worked great for me.

I too have a 30" inseam and actually went the other way concerning seat height. I now have a Rocky Mayer seat on my regular height GS which raised me up another inch or so, plus it's a bit wider so it feels like ~2 inches...but boy is it ever a COMFY seat. You get used to it pretty quickly, and I don't even try to get both feet down on my GS like I do on my Triumph Tiger. While I can tippy-toe both feet when stopped, it's pretty unstable like that, so the left leg gets most of the work out in stop and go traffic. Since 95% of the time you'll have your feet on the footpegs, I would go for comfort there before worrying too much about getting flat footed the other 5% of the time....But that's just my 2 cents worth, and as always "your mileage may vary"

Thumbs up

I have a 29" inseam. After just over a year on the standard seat I tried the BMW low seat but found it too uncomfortable for my boney backside on long trips. I now have a Kahedo low seat (available from Touratech), which seems slightly lower than the BMW low but is really comfortable even on the longest journeys.

I have been researching low seats for the GS, I am also a shorter person (which kind of scares me on the GS) and have been trying to decide which low seat to get. How low I can get and still be comfortable is important. Of those who have tried the Sragent low seat, is it true it is taller than the BMW low seat. How is the comfort level of the Seargent compared to the Tour Tch x-Low Seat?

I have a 36" inseam and I love my custom Russell. It's a full inch taller than stock, with the stiffer spring (I weigh 210) and I run it in the tall position.

Can you post some more pics of your seat from different angles - it looks very interesting.

Thanks

I was at our local BMW dealer yesterday as I am doing serious recon on the gsa. I am also vc with an 29" inseam. Traded the low seat of the gs and was just perfect.

Thumbs up short legs

Yep me too. I ordered my GS with a factory low seat and still have to lean one of my ass cheacks over the side of the seat to have 1 flat foot.. Always been the same for me, I also ride a 610 husky in the bush and have learn't not to fall off or just jump off before the crash...hehehe back to the GS seat--- the factory low seat is not great for long trips, so I did some research and found an accessory that fits to the seat and it is called an 'AIR HAWK'. this is an air filled cushion that is extremely adjustable and very very comfortable once you get the settings just right. I find it great for VC persons like myself because if you are not embarking on a long trip you can simply remove it (10seconds) and the stock 'factory low seat' is fine for day to day riding. The AIR HAWK is about $200 AUS and for the bucks it serves its purpose extremely well. You can buy them to suit the pillion seat as well if you like. If you want more info or some pics, I will do my best to post them for you.... my main issue now is short legs and cruise pegs - anyone????
