Seat heat

I placed a beaded seat pad on my GS 1200 GSA stock seat to get some bum cooling, but it seems to have the opposite effect. It seems like engine or muffler heat is rising through the pad and heating my bum more that if I used no pad at all. Has anyone had this same experience?

The seat is a pretty good insulator of heat. I have not experienced overheating of the bum while riding. Other parts of me may get overheated, but not that part.
