I just put the Pivot Pegz on my wife's '08 GS. She has a short shift lever. I forget the brand, but it has a slot to adjust the length.
So anyway, when I tried to remove the shift lever to get the peg pin out, the shallow allen button head clamping bolt on the lever rounded out. Bummer. I heated it, etc. but no joy. So I got out the Matco bolt remover set, drilled the head of the bolt with a 5/32 inch drill. Heated the lever to about 250 deg F, inserted the appropriate remover and with a little torque, removed the bolt. WHEW! Mental note, next time heat the thing first. Underwood of the former Underwood's BMW told me USE HEAT JACK! He keeps being right. I replaced the bolt with a deep allen head one. |

On two different sets of pegs the key to getting the spring right was paying attention to the high/low position and which side of the bike you were working. I don't know if the Pivot Pegs are the same way.
The springs that fit one way with the pegs in the high position had to be swapped side-to-side to fit on the bike with the pegs in the low position. Pictures of a Powerpegz (similar to the Pivotpegs) install here. |
