There has to be a better method of fixing!

Just bought a BMW tank bag. Happily reading the instructions until I reached that part that states that the Glue cures or fixes over a 48hr period and that it has to be done at 20C. Unfortunately in the middle of Scotland in November, the odds are greater of getting -20C rather than +20C. Now then, without the benefit of a heated garage (the bike sits in my walled off back garden), or using a hair dryer stuck on the end of a tripod , how on earth does BMW expect one to stick the velcro strip on to the tank in the middle of bloody winter? Since I don't want to be bagless until summer next year any reasonable suggestion (even humerous ones) appreciated!

-20 deg C might be just a bit of hyperbole. I can recall a couple of winters over the past 25 years when it's got down to -15 or so. Maybe you live in the frozen North though....whauraboots ur ye maun...?

Even if you're in the Central belt, I can't think of anyone with a heated garage. Perhaps one way would be to use heat packs - these things where you crush the crystals and the pack them emits enough heat to keep your hands or other bits of your body warm. You could look in your local outdoor shop for these and then tape them over the bag fixing on the back of the tank for as long as they emit heat and then change them.

Or, how about an electrically heated pad. I've got a mini electric blanket thing in a faux sheepskin pad that's designed to apply heat to sore backs etc. If you haven't got anything similar, you could borrow that if you're anywhere near Edinburgh.

Good point. I suspect there's more truth in that than most folks realise. The temperature may be higher in Scotland but so is the relative humidity. So it often feels much colder than the simple figures suggest. Couple that with the windchill and our draughty old houses, plus the price of fuel and just about everything else....moving to Canada is a pretty cool....(sorry.... ) idea.

Having said that, if we had the greenbacks and a Green Card, SWMBO and I would move to the Western USA tomorrow.

Most Canadians (outside of Toronto) don't think Toronto belongs in Canada, and this post illustrates why. While I write this, the temp outside on the Canadian Prairie is -18 C, after an overnight low of -24, and it's not even winter yet! Cold enough for you?

Still, for southern Ontario and lower mainland BC, they have milder winters, and as a bonus, they call out the Army if it snows or the going gets tough.
