So I have always been very interested in the BMW go anywhere bikes. I have never owned a motorcycle but for some reason these bikes always intrigued me.
I live in a place called Eugene, OR some of you may have heard of, it isn't the kind of place you see too many of the 1200 GS bikes. The other day I was driving home from the airport and I saw 6 of them, some adventures some non. I was next to them at a red light and now I am obsessed. I am going to get my motorcycle license next week and then pick up one of these bikes! The people I was next to had satellite radio and GPS navigation, do you guys have that stuff? Are there certain products that integrate better with the bike? Would you guys mind posting some pictures of your electronic set ups? Especially interested in sirius radio and navigation. And radar detectors too! How do you power all this stuff? Thanks |

The best way to power accessories is from an added auxiliary fuse block. Which then can or can not be relayed off the bike for on and off. Touratech also sells an add on called a TPS-15 that allow you to add additional switched circuits to the bike. I have a combination of both powering GPS, intercom, bike-to-bike radio, heated seats, heated clothing, aux. lights and a few more things.
Here is a picture of my installed fuse block. The TPS-15 sits underneath it: ![]() Here is a schematic of all of the electrical additions to my R1200GS: ![]() My suggestion - Go for it! |
