Default Hugger

Hi all from the Isle of Man.

I am trying to find out which is the best hugger to fit to my 05 r1200gs. When I ride in wet weather the rear end of the bike, luggage and wife get covered in road spray comming from the rear wheel.

The obvious answer is to fit a hugger. However I have spoken to a few guys that have had various types fitted and some have said that theres were useless.

So any suggestions for one that actually works.

Cheers Steve

Nope. All of them I've seen, including the Pyramid one I have are too short to solve the spray up your back problem.

You might take a look at the Motorrad Concepts hugger, mine works quite well at keeping the spray down & protecting the rear shock...

The above mentioned hugger is the daddies, but AFAIK, it's no longer in production and has been taken off the web site. I think a mk 2 version was in the offing, but nothing has happened about that as I had heard that a 'big' manufacturer was trying to do a deal with the original designer of the hugger.

Hi that Motorrad hugger seems to cover a good portion of the wheel, a real shame it's not now being made. I will keep my eye out for a possible mk 2.

Yes, it does cover the rear wheel well. It also extends forwards to cover the shock, linkages and exhaust cat.

Looks like you may be in luck. There's one for sale on ebay right now. Starting price is a mere £50, but bear in mind that a new one cost (me) £180. However, well worth the outlay and you won't be disappointed if you win the auction.
