Talking LeD driving lights

Does anyone have any experience with the smaller auxillary lamps ?
I installed the twisted throttle LED lights (Denali D-1) on my 07 V-strom 650 which has a limited electrical capacity to say the least!! they draw .75 amps each and put out 12 Watts of VERY BRIGHT White Light and light up the whole world!!!! I subsequently installed the same System on my '08 K1200GT/4 with similar results!!! I installed and HID Conversion kit on my '09 Harley RoadGlide with very satisfactory results again 35 Watt power output versus the 110 Watt draw from the OEM Halogen dual headlights, the bulbs are HI/low beam with a magneticaly controlled shutter to expose the whole bulb during hi beam operation.!!!
I plan on installing both on my '12 R1200GS the HID kit was purchased from VVME for about 90.00 for the dual HI/LO conversion kit with digital slim ballast's

Default My two cents...

I installed a set of Chinese 35W HID lights featured on a widely promoted maintenance DVD for my '09 R1200 GSA, I couldn't believe the improvement! I got as much light, or more, as I had with my aftermarket bulb and Piaa 1100x's on my R1150RT, but at less than a quarter of the cost. I did both the high and low beams, but never needed to use high beams again. In addition, I wasn't getting oncoming drivers flashing me like I always got using the Piaa's.

I would occasionally get the LAMPF error, but restarting the bike usually fixed it. Over time the LAMPF error became more common, and I would see it on cold mornings when camping and not plugged into a charger. Again, restarting the bike after riding a little and bringing the bike up to full power usually fixed the problem. When I installed an Odyssy PC535 to replace BMW's inadequate stock battery the LAMPF issues all but dissapeared.

Now I'm starting a new chapter with a '12 R12GSA. I'm still going with 35W HID's, but this time from DDM engineering (good reviews on the ADV forum) and this time only the low beam (preserve the stock high beam for signaling, and as a backup to HID when the LAMPF problem occurs). I'm also replacing the factory H11 fog lamp bulbs with HID's. I considered swapping the fogs for BMW's optional LED lamps, but the cost is prohibitive. And apparently aftermarket LED's in the stock fog housings don't give a good light pattern all the way to the ground.

The Odyssy battery will come down the road when the stock battery starts to fail.

Default HID Headlights in 1200GS

Jrney, you had virtually the same experience I had with my VVME and DDM HID units. Since I did the 1-Off kits, though, I've had no more problems. When I broke a factory fog lamp in a low speed "get-off," I replaced the OEM units with two spot lights from Trail Tech. Combined with the HID headlight, those things really punch a hole in the night! A few weeks ago, I left Furnace Creek in Death Valley at 5:00 AM. I was amazed at how much light that '09 GSA was generating.

I've had a 35w DDM for a year now no lampf. I must say I did have it once bought the cheater and found the "park" light was out.

I did the low only, this was the spare part mentality but after this long with no problem I think I might do the high as well. I don't have much call for the high beam really. I have PIAA's, ADVMonster 10W LED's as well. So lot's of light.

I never have installed the cheaters. I may "just because" but it seems to run fine without them.

ADVMonsters new LED's look way impressive and are pretty reasonable, although his prices are crawling up as well.
