Default Ati-Theft Alarm System DWA 6

Just got a new 2008 GSA. I added the alarm system b/ I live in Philadelphia. The alarm won't make a sound. The lights flash, but it won't make a peep. I have reprogramed it and everything. Anyone have this problem, or do I just need to go back to the dealer?

Thank you very much for your help.

As I understand it, the BMW factory system is a "anti-theft system". That isn't always the same thing as an "alarm system".

I know when I purchased my Harley the factory system acted just as yours (lights flashing, no audible alarm). The Harley system also disables the fuel system and ignition so it can't be hot-wired. I had to purchase and install a battery back-up module with an audible siren to get it to beep.

My guess is the BMW system is not audible. A simple phone call to your dealer should answer that question. When/if you call, ask if they sell a audible siren to go with the factory anti-theft system.

I will soon be buying a new 1200GS and would be interested in what they say.

Good luck!
