Hi all,
Just wondering whether anyone has any input as to which of the several street/dirt combo tires give the best traction on gravel and dirt. I ride my GSA on a lot of gravel roads in my area. I'm not interested in the 50/50s but putting things like longevity and maximum street traction aside, which of the mostly street type tires seems to be the best in the dirt? |

I've had good luck with the Avon Distanzia. I think they get slightly better traction in rocks/gravel than Metzler Tourances. I can't tell any difference on the road and the longevity is about the same, maybe one thousand miles less.

Most people would classify this as a more dirt oriented tire, but I really like the Conti TKC 80. I ride a lot of road and have not noticed any problems on the pavement and they are unparalleled on dirt. They hook up much better in the loose stuff than anything else and you really do not sacrifice anything on the road. They ride smoother on pavement than their aggressive look would suggest. The down side is the fast wear. it Is a very soft tire.
