Default how low would you go?

Took a look at the tires when I got home tonight and the rear is looking really flat spotted. There's pretty much no tread in the center. Way more on the edges. That's what I get from commuting...

I can't complain, I've got about 8,000 miles on the Tourance EXP. But the eternal question is, how low would you run a tire on a flat slot before it's time to replace it? I think this tire is about done. Thoughts?

The other interesting thing is that the wear is not even all the way around the tire. There is a visible difference. How strange is that?

I've got 20.000Km from old normal tourances

In my case, in case of accident and is my fault (lets say slippery road) ... insurance company would not compensate because of tires.

Plenty of life left in those tires

This is what a tire that needs changing looks like.
