I have 13,100 miles on my EXP's, which is what my GSA came with from BMW. My understanding is that the non-EXP's are more popular and a menial $4.00 cheaper per tire. Does anyone have any experience with both tires and can provide input either way?
Apparently the EXP's are for 95% on road / 5% off. The non-EXP's are for 85% on road / 15% off. |

As I read everybody's information I have to wonder if I let my tires go for too many miles (13,100). I figured if the grooves in the center of the tire (rear) were getting close to disappearing, it was time to change them. I am at that point now. Sometimes I scare me!

I find that the EXP has a firmer sidewall and gives good street performance. The regular Tourances are similar to the Michelin Anakee, IMHO. Personally, I'm about to try a dual compound tire even if it means going to a street type. I get 15k out of a front but no better than 7500 out of a rear because of the flat spot.

I last had a set of Ep on the bike. I took them of at 10,000km.
The from was well shot. Had the usuall cupping that these bikes seem to put into a tyre. The rear was about 80% gone and would have gone another couple of thousand kilometers. I regularly ride on some great roads, where you can get your feet scraping the ground, and these tyres never missed a beat, they have capabilities far greater than mine, or the bikes. Based on that, and after asking around, i decided to try the original Tourance, i think they are a slightly harder compound, and a slightly different tread. I have just done a 1400km this week, and i hardly notice a difference in the ride. The only comment i can make at this point is that the tyres do have a bit of a hum at around 80kmh (50mph) Early signs are good, so i will try and get the best out of this set. Price was marginaly cheaper, but next set will be a set of Michelin's. |
