I may be clutching at straws here .......but
I'm about to collect my my bike and plan on riding it through europe to Norway .... and at the moment temps are well below freezing and there is a lot of snow and ice around. Normal tyre choice for cars are ...... winter tyres, ie tyres specificaly for sub zero temps and are compulsory for vehicles in both germany and norway .... Ive tried just about everything I know to source specific winter tyres for the bike, Metzler do winter tyres for scooters but thats about all Ive found. All weather tyres are available but they are not the same at all ....... does anybody have any ideas ????? |

I may have solved this myself .........
![]() The legal requirement in Germany is a M&S marking (mud and snow), tyres with this marking are classified as low operating temperature, ie use in sub zero conditions. There are a lot of far eastern tyres carrying this marking but they are not genuine M&S - tests carried out in germany by the test agency maintained there was only one genuine M&S tyre available ...... thats the Continental TKC80 which as it happens is standard fitment to th R1200GS adventure ....... phew, excellent news. |
