Default TKC update

Just wanted to update on the wear of my TKC's. Been 3100 miles and 130 of which has been off road. Mostly hard packed with some rocks and loose sand.

Most of the miles I regret to say are highway miles and 30% of that are twisties.

Default Questions..

On what bike? What pressures?

Thanks...

[Oh yes, you have got to get on dirt more! That is the home turf for TKCs.]

Default Similar wear

XJON: I just put 2100 miles in two weeks on my tkc's. I am not good at attaching pictures on this forum so I can not show you but it was 60 paved/40 un-paved and has similar wear to your pictures. I should add that I was doing 80+ mph on very twisty paved roads and averaged 30+ on some rough unpaved roads at Death Valley fully packed with more then 60lbs of extra gear. I had a great time and have learned to have complete confidence in them.
I keep a tire pump with me so I can adjust the air pressure up/down quickly to meet the dirt road conditions as I did run on plenty of soft sandy roads. With them installed I apprecaite the fact that I can transition from paved & un-paved riding at my whim.

Love my TKC's and good to see others share their experiences with them.

Wallowa- 1200gs '06

I swap these between my dunlops for street back and forth. My presures are what ever is recommended. sometimes with light loads. I do cruise around 80 on the hwy with some excessive speeds at times to get out of trouble I do try to get on dirt as much as I can. I know these tires would last better offroad than on. At least time wise, not mileage. It doesn't look at all chewed up.

Joe- I also keep a tire pump. A hand and a couple of co2 cartriges for when Im tired. Lately I havent been airing down off road but I used to down to 20psi. I now try out the trail and if doable, I keep the pressure up. If I feel Im slidding around or bouncing from rock to rock then I will air down. I wont go down anymore to 20 though. Maybe 24-26psi. Fear of breaking a bead.

Also I have ridden on them a few times on the road with them aired down. Was heading to the gas station to air up. about 30-40 miles at 20 psi. Sluggish as would be expected.

Your tread wear looks pretty good for that milage on a heavy bike & at your posted speeds. Hope you're not done w/ then yet. Maybe I'm just cheap.
