I wrote that thread about installing it on a GSA which has the "wind deflectors" as well. I have since also added one of these to my 2010 GS and added the BMW wind deflectors as well.
This is imho, an outstanding choice because it can be any height you want. Comes with two (different height) upper sections. It's both a winter and summer solution!

Do you have any pictures of the Wunderlich Vario on your bike? The Wunderlich site is pretty short on decent pictures of the windscreen on the bike - they're all pretty close up shots and it's hard to really get a feel for what it looks like and how obtrusive the adjustment brackets are.
