When I created this Website early in 2004, I'd just taken delivery of the first R1200GS sold in eastern Washington State in the USA. I loved the bike, and having the skills to do a Website full of good info and "how tos", it was a labor of love and a great source of pleasure for a handful of years.
However, after putting about 50k miles on the R12GS I sold it, and briefly rode a 750 Aprilia Shiver for a while, then just over a year ago I switched to the F800GS camp. Obviously, I haven't put much effort into maintaining the site itself (the articles, how-tos, vendor list, etc.). Fortunately my friend Marco ('marc' on the forum) who is still a confirmed R1200GS fan volunteered to to take over the day-to-day administration of the forum, and that has been working great for several years. I was approached by a guy from VerticalScope who made a serious offer to buy the domain, Website and forum. Given my situation with the Website and forum, and after thinking about it for a couple days. I agreed. The Website and forum got moved to their servers last week, and as far as I can tell all went quite smoothly. Although I expect you will see some changes to the Website itself (it badly needs updating, and VerticalScope plans to add significant content) I do not expect that the forum will change appreciably. I'll remain a forum member ("HMarc") myself, and "marc" (who is actually Marco Hyman, not me) will continue to be the day-to-day administrator. webmaster@R1200GS.info will go to VerticalScope, of course. I expect the Website and forum overall to improve greatly as a result of this hand off, and I thank you all for joining this forum, and sharing your knowledge and adventures with the rest of us in this community of BMW R1200GS owners and fanciers. |

HMark, thanks for the heads up and a huge thanks for your hard work over the years getting the site up and running. Although I don't post much I've always enjoyed the learning and how-to's available here. Doesn't seem to matter what the question, someone here (usually Marc) has the answer without my having to wade through a lot of bs like on other sites.
Again thanks and hope you enjoy the 800. Jim |
