Default Topping up the Preload Adjuster

Hi everyone, please see the below link which tells one how to 'top up' the Preload Adjuster. What oil should I use?

Have you heard of this before?

Might depend upon which shock you have. BMW changed suppliers in '06 I believe. Some adjusters are an integral part of the shock in which case you wouldn't be able to do the pictured fix.

As for the oil type... hydraulic jack oil is probably perfect, but what's wrong with the 5W-30 that's pictured?
