Toyota says yes to Boxer design
Maybe it is water cooled but the boxer sure looks like it has a long life

I have a Subaru 4-cylinder engine in my 1450# Porsche Spyder 550 replica and love the engine. It is a favorite of the sand rail crowd, so I used it instead of the usual VW engine when I had the car built in L.A. The car is nothing less than a 4-wheel motorcycle because it is so light, and the handling is great because of the low center of gravity provided by the flat-four engine.
