Picked up my new-to-me '05 R12GS on Saturday. Pretty cold here in the DC area, but I got some riding in over the weekend.
![]() Pretty stoked about it. I've owned 2 R1100GS's, both of which were great bikes, but had a too-good-to-pass-up opportunity to jump into the 21st century. I'm already impressed with the bump in manageable power, and it's a lot smoother operating than the 1100 engine. It feels a lot less... tractor-like. I even like the servo brakes ok ![]() Have to get used to the sensation of sitting ON the bike. I'm not sure if it's a function of the shorter beak, more compact cockpit, or what, but I feel less like I did with the R11GS, which kind of felt like sitting IN the bike. Luckily, the PO had it pretty well upgraded before selling it, so there's really not much to do other than ride it. It's already got Ohlins & extra lights on it, plus some other stuff. I really like the expandable stock side & top cases. I'm looking forward to 2011's riding, that's for sure! --chiba |
