Default Difficulty finding used GS

Not sure if this is common, if its the time of year, or what.... There is a really awesome newer dealership right near me in Chicago (BMW Countryside) and I could pull the trigger on a new as I'm selling another bike here soon. I just thought I'd find more people selling 2008 and newer that decided it wasn't for them (as you do with other bikes). None on Craigslist anywhere, VERY few on ebay across the country, none in local BMW used inventories.. Who knows.. Any thoughts??

Time of year? You'll find more for sale at the end of the summer than at the beginning. That said, I think there are a couple of bikes for sale in the Marketplace forum.

If it's any consolation, I couldn't find a used one to buy either. I shopped pretty hard for several months. I did have specific model years in mind, though, so that decreased my chances. Wire wheels, and a tank style that would accept the upper crash bars. I wasn't really happy buying new, but it's a bike I plan on riding forever.

There are a bunch of BMW motorcycle groups (BMWOA is one) and some may be local to you. If you can fall in with the group in your area, you might be able to find someone selling within the group. Buying sight unseen, or traveling to see a bike that you might decide on not buying figures into the price.

I'll do some shopping, and see if I can point you in a direction...

Go to Carolina Euro, http://www.carolinaeuro.com/used_bikes.php?cat=1, and there are two '08s for you. Call George at 336-272-4269, make your deal, fly down to Greensboro and ride that sucker home.

I found a website called JaxedMash that allows one to search nationwide Craigslist and Ebay...found a great unit on Craigslist...great bike...fantastic seller...about 800 miles from home. One way plane ticket and a fantastic first ride.

Default Craigslist nationwide

If you are willing to travel to get your GS, here is a good hint on finding one on craigslist. From Google do a search on "r1200gs craigslist", then on the left side of the results window select "search tools" and pick "today", or "this week", etc... You will get nationwide craigslist results only from that period of time. If you do this everyday with "today" selected you are sure not to miss any new postings. also try "1200 gs craigslist" as results will slightly differ. I Also found a good number on cycletrader.
Just picked up a red '09 GSA this past week-end in San Diego after a long search...

Let me know how your search works out. I am taking my 06 R1200GS into the shop on Tuesday 5th. for starting problems. Appears to be a fuel pump issue. (See Abandoned Dreams Thread). I have had it stored for 4yrs. It is essentially new with just 537mi. on it. Thats right, Five Hundred Thirty Seven. Baltic blue, with engine bars, handle heat, and ABS. Going to put it on ebay when I get it back. Let me know if your interested. Have his and hers riding suits, helmets. Ladies is brand new with tags still on it and never worn. Have BMW charger also.

Will require a trip to Colo if you want it.

Good luck and thanks,

Buckstersdad.
